McDonogh quarterback Preston Howard commits to Maryland

The Maryland football team received a commitment from McDonogh quarterback Preston Howard on Sunday afternoon.

Howard, who is a junior, is rated a three-star and the ninth best dual quarterback in the 2022 class. Howard picked the Terps over Arizona State, Auburn, Michigan and others.

Last season, Howard led McDonogh’s offense by throwing for 899 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. He was a force with his legs, rushing for 540 yards and five touchdowns on 93 carries.

Howard is viewed by the Terps as an athlete and has the chance to play tight end at the collegiate level. Howard spent time playing tight end and defensive end during his freshman season at McDonogh. According to 247Sports, Howard’s willingness to play other positions was an essential part in his recruitment to College Park.

Howard is joining Maryland’s 2022 recruiting that is currently made up of six players.
