Yesterday morning, top wide receiver prospect Trevon Diggs took to Twitter and announced he had something important to say at noon. Once noon hit, Trevon posted on Twitter a list of the top twelve schools. In that list there are five SEC schools, three ACC schools, one Big East schools, and two Big Ten schools. Before cutting the list to twelve, Trevon had offers from other schools like Florida State, Boston College, Georgia, and USC.
Trevon is the younger brother of Maryland Terps star receiver and future NFL receiver Stefon Diggs. Trevon is a junior at Avalon School, and a 4-star wide receiver. Each of these schools have a chance at landing Diggs who caught 78 passes for 1,008 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2014.
According to 247sports.com Crystal Ball prediction, there is a 79% chance, Maryland would get Trevon. Most of 247sports.com recruiting writers believes Trevon will end up wearing a Terps uniform. Maryland may look like appealing schools because his brother went there, and it’s close to home. If Diggs decides to go to Maryland, this might get other top players to go to Maryland.
So far Maryland has six commits. Some of those commits include players like Lorenzo Harrison (DeMatha), Darryl Turner Jr. (DeMatha), and Keandre Jones (Good Counsel). Maryland is trying to lure players like Dwayne Haskins (Bullis), who is one of the top quarterbacks in the country. Then there’s Tino Ellis (DeMatha), who is another wide receiver that had Maryland as one of his top schools.
Another school that has a chance to land Trevon is Alabama. 247sports.com Crystal Ball believes the Crimson Tide has the second best chance getting Trevon Diggs. Just like Maryland, Trevon has visited Alabama. The Crimson Tide has five commitments right now and the idea to compete for a National Championship almost every year may lead Trevon to Alabama.
Penn State, LSU, and Auburn are other schools that have the potential to land Diggs. Diggs has already visited Penn State several times. The Nittany Lions has five commitments and one of them is 4-star defensive end Shane Simmons. LSU gave Diggs an offer right before he cut his list to 12. Trevon was supposed to make a visit to Auburn but that got postpone. But a visit to Auburn should be coming soon.
By cutting the list to 12, Trevon is getting a little closer to making the final decision. But the process will get harder since each of these schools have a lot to offer.
