Paul VI is ranked in the USA Today Top 25 Expert and Computer Rankings

Paul VI and a few more teams from the DMV found themselves nationally ranked.

There have been major changes in the USA Today Top 25 Expert Rankings after the Dr. Martin Luther King weekend. Nathan Hale, a team led by Michael Porter Jr., jumped into the top spot, while Sierra Canyon is in second after upsetting top ranked La Lumiere.

DeMatha (13-1) sits at No. 12 in the rankings after the team had a strong outing at the Hoophall Classic. The Stags also are coming off a win over St. Mary’s Ryken on Tuesday, which seniors Ryan Allen and D.J. Harvey scored 21 points each.

Paul VI (14-2), who defeated Gonzaga 83-73 on Monday, checks in at No. 25. Forward Brandon Slater led the Panthers with 34 points, 10 rebounds and five dimes. The win was Paul VI’s seventh straight win.

Mt. Saint Joseph is ranked No. 24 in the Expert Rankings. The Gaels (20-1, 11-0 in the MIAA) are No. 1 in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference-Black Division. Terps commit Darryl Morsell and junior Jalen Smith has played a big role in the Gaels success.

In the USA Today Computer Rankings, Gonzaga is ranked No. 19, Paul VI sits at No. 20, and DeMatha checks in at No. 21. Rock Creek Christian is ranked, while No. 24. Mt. Saint Joseph didn’t make this particular list.
