Mark Turgeon and the Terps added a big piece to their 2018 recruiting class when four-star Aaron Wiggins committed to Maryland on Saturday.
Wiggins, who is a 6-foot-6 small forward from Greensboro, N.C., picked the Terps after he took an official visit to College Park on Friday, according to 247sports. He held offers from Kansas, Arizona, Virginia, Virginia Tech, USC, Florida, Florida State, Rutgers and California.
Wiggins is ranked the No. 18 small forward in the country and the fifth best in North Carolina. He currently plays to Team Charlotte in the Under Armour Association where he is averaging 12 points per game.
Wiggins is the Terps first commit of the 2018 class after they missed out on local products like Brandon Slater (Villanova) and Prentiss Hubb (Gonzaga). Maryland is seriously looking at five-star Immanuel Quickley, who has the Terps in his top four list, and Jalen Smith.
