
DeMatha, and Gonzaga are set to return to West Virginia for the 11th annual Cancer Research Classic as the schedule for the tournament was released on Wednesday.
Both teams played in the Cancer Research Classic last year and walked away with wins. DeMatha defeated Roselle Catholic 66-61 thanks to guard D.J. Harvey, who is currently a freshman at Notre Dame. Harvey posted a double-double, 16 points and 11 rebounds and earned MVP honors.
Guard Ryan Allen finished with 11 points and four assists. Forward John McRae tallied 14 points, while now sophomore Hunter Dickinson scored 10 points on a perfect 5-5 shooting.
Gonzaga took down Westlake 76-73 after trailing by four points at halftime. The Purple Eagles shot the ball well from behind the arc as they connected on eight three-pointers. Point guard Chris Lykes finished with 19 points and a game-high eight assists.
Notre Dame commit Prentiss Hubb received the MVP award after scoring 25 points on 10-14 shooting. Forward Terrance Williams registered 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Cancer Research Classic will run from Jan. 5-8 at Wheeling Jesuit University. Games will be streamed on ESPN.
