St. John’s College High School senior guard Tre Wood committed to the University of Massachusetts via Twitter on Friday.

Wood picked UMass over George Mason, Iowa, Penn State and George Washington. He took official visits to VCU, Towson and George Mason prior to making his decision.

The 6-foot-5 guard is rated a three-star, and ranked the fifth best player in DC by 247sports. He averaged 11 points, 5.8 assists and 3.5 steals during his junior season with St. John’s.

Wood is not the only player from the D.C. area that made his college commitment over the weekend. Four-star Rock Creek Christian Academy forward Jermaine Harris committed to Rhode Island over Xavier.
