
Former Mississippi State center Schnider Herard announced Saturday that he will be transferring to Maryland.

“The reason why is because they’ve been doing a really good job with big guys the last few years,” Herard told 247sports. “I’ve been watching them this year and some clips from last year and they’ve been really successful with big guys.”
Herard averaged 5.1 points and five rebounds as a freshman last season. The 6-foot-10 center only averaged eight minutes a game this season and tallied less than two points per contest.
Herard was a top-50 player coming out of high school and held offers from Kansas, Purdue, Arizona and more.
Herard gives a boost to Maryland’s front court position, which will see senior Michal Cekovsky and Sean Obi depart after the season is over.
