Stute, who stands at 6-foot-6, is rated a three-star and ranked the No. 32 small forward in the nation by 247Sports. Stute picked the Commodores over Georgetown, George Mason, Rhode Island, Virginia Tech and others.
“I just feel like having the opportunity to play for Jerry Stackhouse at a school like Vanderbilt, which is one of the best universities in the world, was impossible to pass up,” Stute told 247Sports. “Coach Stackhouse is a great guy and a great player developer. I feel like it would have been impossible for me to say no to that situation, and I know this is the best situation for me.”
Stute, who is the Commodore’s first commitment in the 2020 class, has helped Gonzaga win two Washington Catholic Athletic Conference titles in the last three years.
