After coming off a huge win against Chaminade, DeMatha continues its winning streak as it defeated Saint Mary’s Ryken, 75-56.
The Stags had control of the game from beginning to end. They played very well offensively as they were lead by sophomore D.J. Harvey, who paced DeMatha with 15 points. Junior Markelle Fultz scored 12 points, and made a highlight reel dunk early in the first quarter.
Fultz is looking good after making the transition from junior varsity to varsity. Senior guard Terrell Allen also had a good game as he finished with 12 points. Allen has truly stepped up and became a great senior leader on the team.
The Knights failed to get anything going on offense. They scored in single digits in the first three quarters. The worst quarter was the third when the team only mustered up six points. Senior Donte Etheridge tallied a team high 11 points.
The Knights defense was off track as well. The team was letting DeMatha constantly score without making any stops. Overall, it was a terrible performance by Ryken.
DeMatha is now 6-0 and it looks to stay unbeaten as they take on Bishop Ireton, a team that is 0-4 in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference and 2-6 overall. If the Stags keep playing the way they are now, there is no question that they will be favorites to win the WCAC Championship.
