This week, news had surfaced that Rawle Alkins has chosen to play his senior year of high school at Word of God in Raleigh, North Carolina. Alkins attended Christ the King HS in Queens for the past three years, where he made a name for himself as the best basketball player in New York. The five-star guard had faced the possibility of being ruled ineligible since he had played a couple of games at Palm Beach Central High School while he was in the eighth game.
Alkins, a 6 foot 5 shooting guard, will be transferring to the same prep school that current NBA star John Wall attended, under coach Brian Clifton. Atkins helped lead the Christ The King Royals to 3 straight City Championships, which included two New York State Federation Championships. He will be a great addition to a team filled with great talent such as junior JJ Smith and point guard Jalen Harris.

Some had suggested that by making a move to North Carolina, Alkins, who has yet to commit, will most likely go to a college down in NC, most likely NC State or the University of North Carolina. Alkins was quoted saying “the only school in the country that hasn’t offered me is Duke”, and recently narrowed his college list down to 10 teams, including Louisville, Kentucky, and St. John’s.
Rawle is physical player that possesses a lot of athleticism. He is an aggressive scorer that excels in transition. For a shooting guard, Rawle is a great rebounder and can play solid defense. Alkins will be looking to bring his lofty stock even higher this year down in Raleigh.
