
Hyattsville, MD- After losing two straight games to Oak Hill and Montverde, DeMatha rolled past Bishop Ireton 68-31 to put them back on the winning track.
The Stags got going early as the started the game with a 10-0 lead. Bishop Ireton didn’t score a single point through the first four minutes of play. Senior Michael Everett finally put the Cardinals on the board when he made a free throw.
DeMatha was led by junior center Christian Dyches who started instead of Josh Carlton. Dyches finished the game with 16 points. Guard/forward DJ Harvey had 10 points while junior point guard Ryan Allen had 8 points (5 points in the first quarter).
5-star Markelle Fultz didn’t score much in the victory but got his teammates involved. The Washington signee finished the game with a season low 5 points but had 7 assists. Sharpshooter Nate Darling only had 6 points. Center Josh Carlton came off the bench last night. He made some solid plays defensively as he had a couple of blocks.
DeMatha is now 11-2 (4-0). Their next two games will be on the road against two very tough WCAC teams. The Stags will face Bishop O’Connell on Thursday then St. John’s on Saturday. St. John’s is coming off a victory over Gonzaga.
