Four-star quarterback Dejuan Ellis becomes the second player from the 2018 class to commit to Virginia Tech on Wednesday.
“I called Coach Fuente, and he just went off,” Ellis said to The Key Play. “He said he just about jumped out of his seat and Coach [Brad] Cornelsen was there with him, and I could hear him in the background saying ‘Yes,’ so they got what they wanted.”
Ellis is regarded as the No. 9 dual-threat quarterback, and the No. 241 overall player in his class by 247sports. He was being recruited by Maryland, Wake Forest, Rutgers, Temple and Syracuse before his commitment.
Dejuan threw for 1,058 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2015. He also chipped in 431 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground.
Ellis will be transferring from Bishop O’Connell, and taking his talents to McDonogh School in Owings Mill, MD. It’s the same school Terp commit Jordan McNair plays for.
