After Luka Garza and Nate Watson made their college commitments, the DMV area received more recruiting news when DeMatha’s Ryan Allen pledged to the University of Delaware on Monday.
The combo guard held offers from UAB, Quinnipiac, and George Mason before committing to the Blue Hens. He also took an official visit to Delaware on Sept. 2.
Allen played for Team Takeover in the Nike EYBL circuit. He becomes the eighth player from the 17u team to make their college decision. Other notable guys include Chris Lykes (Miami), Aaron Thompson (Pittsburgh), Myles Douglas (UCF), Anthony Duruji (Louisiana Tech), Jelani Williams (Penn) and Eddie Scott (Penn).
Allen will be entering his third and final year on the DeMatha varsity team. Last season, he played more of the two guard position as his former teammate Markelle Fultz ran the point. Expect Allen to be the point guard this year.
