John Carroll beat Lafayette Christian Academy to advance to the championship of the Chick-fil-a Classic American Bracket.

John Carroll defeated Lafayette Christian Academy 60-44 on Thursday to advance to the finals of the Chick-fil-a Classic American Bracket.

Guard Montez Mathis had another outstanding game for the Patriots, finishing with 22 points (9-17 FG) and 13 rebounds. Five-star guard Immanuel Quickley tallied seven points, six rebounds and two blocks. Nigel Haughton had 12 points and six rebounds. Cameron Byers and Qadir Ismail each had eight points.

The Patriots were up 28-22 at halftime. John Carroll went on a commanding 11-0 run at the start of the second half to set the tone for the rest of the game. The Patriots shot an impressive 58 percent in the second half.

Lafayette Christian Academy’s Pierre Dupre came off the bench and scored a team-high 14 points. Guard Greg Williams Jr. scored 12 points and collected eight rebounds. Caleb Starks tallied eight points in the loss.

John Carroll will face Wheeler (GA) in the championship game on Friday at 6:45pm. Wheeler featured five-star forward E.J. Montgomery, who had 26 points (12-14 FG) and nine rebounds in the semifinals.
