
Wheeler (GA) beat John Carroll 64-53 in the Chick-fil-a Classic American Bracket championship on Friday.
The Wildcats started off the game strong, which led to a 36-24 advantage at halftime. Wheeler continued playing well in the second half, but the Patriots managed to cut into the deficit towards the end of the game.
John Carroll was down by six with 5:05 left in the game, but that was as close they could get.
Darius Perry finished with 15 points, and five rebounds to help Wheeler win its first Chick-fil-a Classic title. Brandon Younger scored 14 points, while Jordan Tucker had 13 points. Five-star E.J. Montgomery tallied six points, four rebounds and three blocks.
John Carroll guard Montez Mathis, who was named to the All-Tourney team, tallied 25 points and five rebounds. Immanuel Quickley scored 13 and was 8-8 from the free throw line.
