Slam Dunk to the Beach Recap: Jeremy Roach, McNamara, Paul VI, and more

Jeremy Roach, Johnathan McGriff and a few other players shined at Slam Dunk to the Beach. Here is a recap of all the action.

Paul VI (1-1)

Game 1: Paul VI 56 Neumann-Goretti (PA) 50

Recap: The Panthers kicked off the tournament with a big time victory over a Neumann-Goretti team that features five-star point guard Quade Green. The Panthers were down 25-23 at halftime, but outscored Goretti 19-9 in the third quarter. Brandon Slater and Jeremy Roach each scored 14 points. Aaron Thompson tallied 11 points, six assists, and five steals.

Game 2: Bishop Loughlin (NY) 82 Paul VI 79

Recap: Roach scored a team high 26 points and was named to the All-Tournament team despite the Panthers losing to Bishop Loughlin. Sophomore Anthony Harris and Slater scored 20 points a piece. Thompson scored nine points, while dishing out six assists.

Bishop McNamara (2-0) 

Game 1: McNamara 52 Smyrna HS (DE) 49

Recap: McNamara struggled coming out of the gates as they trailed 17-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Mustangs bounced back by outscoring Smyrna 38-21 in the second and third quarter. Guard Garrett Kirkland scored a team high 21 points. Mahki Mitchell registered 14 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Sophomore guard Johnathan McGriff finished with 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Game 2: McNamara 57 Our Savior New American (NY) 52

Recap: McGriff shined once again as he tallied 15 points, six rebounds, and three dimes in the Mustangs win over Our Savior New American. Kirkland scored 13 points and Markhel Mitchell had 11 points.

Eleanor Roosevelt (2-0) 

Game 1: Eleanor Roosevelt 65 St. Michael’s (ONT) 45

Recap: Roosevelt opened the Slam Dunk to the Beach on a high note, winning game one of the tournament. St. Michael’s was in the game during the first half, but the team struggled in the third quarter as they scored three points. Augustine Okafor and Jaden Faulkner led Roosevelt in scoring with 12 points.

Game 2: Eleanor Roosevelt 69 Cape Henlopen HS (DE) 52

Recap: In the final game of the tournament, Roosevelt beat Cape Henlopen. Barly Kanu finished with 20 points and four steals. Okafor chipped in 13 points and Faulkner had 11 points. Roosevelt managed to shot 44 percent from the floor.
