Wise vs Rock Creek Christian Preview: The top two teams in the DMV will clash

Two of the top teams in the DMV will clash on Saturday as Wise faces Rock Creek Christian Academy at the DMV Classic. This game was supposed to happen back in December, but it was cancel due to condensation on the court.

Matchup: Wise vs Rock Creek Christian Academy 

Event: DMV Classic at Parkdale High School

Time: 5pm

Get to know Rock Creek Christian….

Rock Creek (21-0, 8-0 Capitol Beltway League) enters it’s matchup against the Pumas as the top team in the Washington Post Top 20 rankings.

The team is coming off a 76-64 victory over Takoma Academy on Tuesday. Prior to the win over Takoma Academy, Rock Creek beat Riverdale Baptist, 63-61. Jermaine Harris led the way with 15 points. Harris is second on the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game.

Sophomore Sherif Kenney is the team leader in points, averaging 14 points per game. Kenney netted a career-high 28 points against Capitol Christian on Jan. 30. Senior Josh Page is having a solid season, scoring 10.2 points per contest. He had 14 points in the game against Riverdale Baptist.

Get to know Wise….

Just like it’s counterpart, Wise is undefeated this season with a 14-0 record. The Pumas recently beat High Point 72-39 on Thursday. Wise has four players averaging double-figures.

Senior guard Michael Speight is a player to keep an eye on as he averages 17.9 points and nearly five rebounds per contest. He had 28 points and six boards in the win over High Point. Speight registered a season-high 37 points against Suitland on Jan. 6.

Brandon Howell, who averages 15.9 points per game, leads the Pumas with 46 three-point field goals. He has scored 20 or more points in four games this season. Darren Barnes and Brent Pegram average 11 points per game each.
