H.D. Woodson junior guard Kiyon Boyd was named the District of Columbia Interscholastic Athletic Association Player of the Year on Monday.
Boyd finished the regular season leading his team with 22.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, while helping the Warriors to a 18-7 record. Boyd was a legit threat when it came to scoring and grabbing rebounds as he tallied 13 double-doubles.
Boyd registered a triple-double, 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists against Anacostia on Dec. 14. Boyd had a season high 43 points in a win over Norfolk Collegiate on Dec. 23.
Boyd is rated a four-star, and ranked the No. 2 player in D.C. by 247sports. He holds 14 scholarship offers that includes schools like Maryland, Xavier, Virginia Tech and Louisville.
Boyd’s teammates Derquan Washington and Tunde Scrivner were named to the DCIAA All-League teams. Washington received first-team honors, while Scrivner was named to the DCIAA second-team. The trio were Woodson’s top three scorers.
Anacostia junior point guard Maya Moye was the DCIAA Girls Player of the Year. Moye averaged 22.5 point per game during the regular season. She scored 30 or more points in three games and tallied 44 points against H.D. Woodson.
