Makhi and Makhel Mitchell commits to Maryland

Maryland gets a head start recruiting in the 2019 class with the additions of the Mitchell twins.

Maryland picked up class of 2019 twin brothers Makhi and Makhel Mitchell on Friday.

The Mitchell twins, who will be entering their junior season at Bishop McNamara, picked the Terps over Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Memphis, Georgia, George Washington and others.

Both players are rated four-stars by 247sports. Makhi is ranked the top player in Maryland and the No. 7 center from the 2019 class. Makhi led McNamara is scoring during the 2016-17 season as he averaged 12 points per game. He also posted nine double-doubles.

Makhel is ranked the fifth best player in Maryland and the No. 21 power forward from the 2019 class. Makhel averaged 9.4 points per game, which was third best on a Bishop McNamara team that went 9-20.

Maryland Head Coach Mark Turgeon has done well recruiting this summer as he received commitments from class of 2018 standouts Jalen Smith and Aaron Wiggins. The Mitchell twins are the Terps first two recruits in the 2019 class.
