
Doc Bonner helped Quince Orchard to second straight Maryland 4A Championship
Quince Orchard senior quarterback Doc Bonner used his arms and legs to help the Cougars beat North Point 40-21 in the Maryland 4A semifinal on Friday.
Bonner went 11-17 with 213 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception, while running for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 15 attempts. Quince Orchard running back Marquez Cooper ran for 114 yards on 21 carries.
Quince Orchard was up 14-7 at halftime before scoring 19 unanswered points in the third quarter. Bonner threw for two touchdowns, while sophomore Ronnell Dennis Jr. intercepted the ball then ran 80 yards for a touchdown.
Wise scored 21 points in the first quarter to defeat Howard
Wise earned a date with Quince Orchard in the Maryland 4A Championship after beating Howard 42-7 on Friday.
Howard took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Pumas responded back by scoring 21 points in the quarter. Wise running back John Oliver ran for three of his four touchdowns in the first. Oliver finished the game with 128 yards on the ground.
Quarterback Quinton Williams was 8-10 with 115 yards and a touchdown. Wise linebacker Christopher Rhodes picked up a fumble and ran 92 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Wise will have a chance to win its third straight Maryland 4A title on Friday. It will be the second consecutive time the Pumas and Quince Orchard met in the championship.
Ballou knocked down H.D. Woodson in Turkey Bowl
Ballou beat H.D. Woodson 21-14 in the DCIAA Turkey Bowl on Thanksgiving Day.
Ballou quarterback Terrlonta Buchanan tallied 132 total yards and three touchdowns to help his team end Woodson’s four-game win streak in the Turkey Bowl.
Ballou will take on Wilson in the DCSAA Class AA Championship.
