Georgetown received a commitment from Salesian High School (CA.) point guard James Akinjo on Monday morning.
Akinjo was originally signed with UConn, but he reopened the recruitment process on March 10 after the firing of former head coach Kevin Ollie. Akinjo took official visits to Arizona and Georgetown before making his decision.
The four-star guard is ranked the eighth best player in California and the No. 17 point guard in the nation, according to 247sports.com.
Akinjo averaged 10.7 points and 4.3 assists per game for the Oakland Soldiers in the 2017 Nike EYBL.
Akinjo joins Mac McClung, Josh LeBlanc and Grayson Carter in the Hoyas’ 2018 recruiting class.
