DeMatha senior safety Nick Cross received his U.S. Army All-American jersey on Monday.

Cross will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio on Jan. 5. The game will be televised on NBC.

The All-American Bowl features some of the top football players in the nation. Since it was established in 2000, players like Sam Darnold (New York Jets), Odell Beckham Jr. (New York Giants) and Jalen Ramsey (Jacksonville Jaguars) have played in the bowl game.

Former DeMatha and current Ohio State defensive lineman Chase Young played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in 2017.

Cross, a Florida State commit, is rated a four-star and ranked the best player in Maryland by 247sports. Cross held offers from Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame and other before picking the Seminoles.

Cross played a big role in the Stags’ 32-2 victory over Good Counsel on Oct. 19. DeMatha, who is 6-1 and 2-0 in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference, will play St. John’s at home on Friday night.
