AAU Report: DC Premier is on a role, Team Takeover Drops its last two games

DC Premier riding the trio of Prentiss Hubb, Naji Marshall, and Nate Watson 

DC Premier is playing very well as they support a 6-2 record in the Under Armour Association. Premier’s last game was a 77-76 win over Indy Hoosiers on Apr. 24. Premier held a 33-29 advantage at the end of the first half.

The Hoosiers managed to outscore Premier 47-46 in the second half, but couldn’t come away with the win. Naji Marshall, and Nate Watson were the top scorers for DC Premier. Marshall scored 18 points and collected eight rebounds, while Watson registered 21 points and eight rebounds.

Premier have been led by the trio of Prentiss Hubb, Marshall, and Watson. Hubb is third on the team in scoring with 12.8 points per game. Marshall is second with 15.8 points. Watson is the team leader in points (16.5) and rebounds (6.5). Each player have received a lot of attention from some big time Division I schools. They have offers from schools like Maryland, Kansas, Georgetown and Xavier.

Team Takeover dropped three of its last four Nike EYBL games 

Head coach Keith Stevens and his Team Takeover squad has hit a rough spot in the Nike EYBL. Takeover went 1-3 in Session III, which took place at the Boo Williams Sports Complex in Hampton, VA.

Takeover’s first game was a 74-72 loss to We All Can Go (TN) on May 13. Pittsburgh commit Aaron Thompson had 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four steals, five turnovers and a block.

Team Takeover bounced back with a 64-50 victory over Seattle Rotary (WA) on May 14. Center Luka Garza tallied 13 points and five rebounds. Point guard Chris Lykes scored a team-high 15 points, and D.J. Harvey finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. 2017 guard Daejon Davis led Seattle Rotary with 12 points. Following the win, Takeover dropped their next two games to CIA Bounce (CAN) and Houston Hoops (TX).

Team Takeover’s next game will be against Meanstreets (IL) on May 28 in Suwanee, GA.

DC Blue Devils 17u is having a hard time getting on the right track 

It hasn’t been pretty for the DC Blue Devils as they sit with a 2-6 record. While they were in Indianapolis from April 22-24, the Blue Devils won one of their four games. That one win came against Team Breakdown on April 23. Georgetown Prep guard Jared Bynum is the Blue Devils top scorer, averaging 12.6 points per game. 6-foot-6 small forward Darron Barnes is averaging 9.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
