
John Thompson III and the Georgetown Hoyas received their highest commitment since Isaac Copeland when 2017 Notre Dame High School guard Tremont Waters pledged on Wednesday.
Waters is ranked the No. 7 point guard and the No. 32 player in the nation by ESPN. 247sports has Waters ranked the No. 2 player in his hometown Connecticut. He picked Georgetown over big time schools such as Duke, Indiana, Kentucky, UConn and Kansas.
Waters took an official visit to Indiana in late September before going on an unofficial visit to Georgetown when they were hosting their annual Midnight Madness. It was the second time he visited Georgetown, according to 247sports.
The 5-foot-11 prospect averaged 13.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.1 steals for Expressions Elite on the Nike EYBL circuit. He is known for being a quick guard with solid ball handling skills that can create for his teammates and himself.
Waters is Georgetown’s first commitment of the 2017 recruiting class.
