St. John’s wins third straight WCAC championship after beating Bishop McNamara, 66-51

Azzi Fudd scores 32 points to lead St. John's past Bishop McNamara for the third time this season.

St. John’s entered its Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship game against Bishop McNamara, beating the Mustangs twice in the regular season.

The same narrative continued on Monday, as the Cadets defeated McNamara 66-51 to win its third straight conference title.

Sophomore guard Azzi Fudd scored a game-high 32 points. Alex Cowan, sister of University of Maryland men’s basketball point guard Anthony Cowan Jr., registered 15 points. Tshitenge-Mutombo added 13 points, while Carly Rivera chipped in six points.

McNamara senior Jakia Brown-Turner scored 16 points for the Mustangs, who were seeking to win their first WCAC title in 11 years.
